about the hunt

Join us to chase my favorite trophy, one I have hunted in this area for 40 years! You will stay nights aboard our luxurious 70-foot yacht, and during the day we will use multiple methods to hunt. Deer habit use is highly dependent upon time of year, snow fall and rut activity. We have found that the best time of year to hunt these
trophies is from October 20 through December 15th. The rut typically starts in late October and peaks in early to mid-November, By early December we typically have enough snow on the hills to push the deer down close to the coastline, this can make for some of the best hunting, especially when coupled with the post rut activity. During this time, if the snow levels cooperate, it is not uncommon to see up to dozens of deer in a day along the beaches. We recommend these hunts for clients of any physical ability.

We typically offer sea duck hunting in combination with deer hunts. You can expect to take home a diverse collection of ducks that are not easily found together elsewhere including Harlequin, Old Squaw, Surf, White Wing and Common Scooter, Golden Eye, Bufflehead and merganser to name a few. Puddle ducks and geese may also be taken.

The expedition style yacht Sikumi, is one of the finest vessels offering first class hunts in SE Alaska, from her tough steel hull to her handsome wood-trimmed interior, the Sikumi combines the ruggedness of an ocean-going commercial trawler with the elegance of a luxury cruise ship. Four private staterooms in suite bath provide private and excellent accommodations for all guests. Our amazing chef works to prepare only the best and freshest that Alaska has to offer, hopefully along the way you help catch dinner! Be it fresh crab, shrimp or wild Alaska salmon or halibut. There is truly no better vessel offering hunts in Alaska!

Master Guide has spent over 20 years developing one of the largest hunting areas in SE Alaska for deer, mountain goats and brown and black bears. He has
bought out 8 other outfitters to create a large hunting area known for prime hunting. Keegan and his staff pride themselves in working hard to provide you the hunt
of a lifetime. Our staff consist of three Master guides and six registered guides, we are second to none in years of experience.

Don’t be fooled by Kodiak deer hunts! Sitka Black Tail are not native to Kodiak, they were introduced. They are very susceptible to winter kill there as there are no trees. Our deer are at peak numbers, and we have the highest density of deer in Alaska. Kodiak is also very overhunted. We see no other hunters. And Kodiak is known for terrible weather, with hunters often losing up to a week of hunting due to weather. We lost one day all last season….know your facts! Go where the deer are (and are from!)
